West Bengal sets up a team to rescue missing Everest climbers

Three climbers are still missing.
The West Bengal government on Monday set up a four-member team, which will leave for Kathmandu, Nepal tomorrow to rescue the missing Everest climbers from the state. “We have set up a four-member team comprising the Principal and Joint Secretary of the State Sports Department, Officer-in-charge of Gariahat Police Station and advisor Ujjwal Roy, Sports Foundation. We will take help of helicopters to locate and rescue them,” elected MLA Aroop Biswas representing the state government said at Nabanna, state secretariat.
Biswas highlighted as many as eleven climbers from Bengal scaled the Everest. However, eight managed to complete the summit. One of the climbers who completed the summit, Subhas Pal, a resident of Bankura died while descending the Mount Everest, while three others – Gautam Ghosh, Paresh Nath, Debasish Biswas are still missing.
