Militants attack BSF convoy in Manipur

A Border Security Force convoy on foot patrol was ambushed by militants armed with rocket launchers and sophisticated automatic weapons on Thursday in Thoubal district of Manipur but there was no casualty, a police officer said.The ambush took place at Heirok Melei Lampak Chinglon in Thoubal district in the afternoon, 38 km from state capital Imphal.Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, Radhasyhyam, said the BSF personnel belonging to 54 Battalion, D Company, also retaliated and the gunbattle went on for at least half an hour.
