Man crushed to death as water tank falls from building

A short-spell of strong winds and heavy rain created mayhem in the city on Friday, killing two persons and bringing traffic to a grinding halt in the evening as trees fell on the roads at several places.
Siblings Ahmed bin Ibrahim and Khaleel bin Ibrahim were occupied observing their mother’s 40{+t}{+h}death anniversary at Jahangirnagar of Bhavaninagar in old city, when strong winds started blowing around 5 p.m. The winds uprooted a tin-sheet roofed shed erected on the terrace of an adjacent three-floor building, along with the steel anglers.
“Hit by the tin-sheets and anglers, the water tank beside it broke and fell on the house of the two brothers,” West zone DCP V. Satyanarayana said. Fortunately, many of their friends and relatives had already left having attended the ceremony by that time. Else, the casualties could have been more, the police said.

Death was instant for 32-year-old Ahmed, while his elder brother Khaleel suffered critical wounds. The latter was rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.
